Foreword

It’s been almost 35 years since this New Zealand adventure changed my life forever. I wrote everything down that happened related to this trip within a few weeks of getting home. A dear friend let me stay at her secluded cabin for a snowed-in weekend near Snowmass, Colorado and my housemate at the time, Dennis, came with me to support me in getting the whole story written down before anything was forgotten or filed away as impossible, or at the very least, highly improbable.

I’m not sure why as I approach my 70^th year I finally feel it is time to share this story in a bigger way. Perhaps it’s because we are in so desperate need of hope and many sprinklings of magic. As I see it, and as I’ve lived it, magical occurrences are happening all the time if you are looking for them, are open to them, and are excited to engage with them. Perhaps Flora, in her timing brilliance, wanted the flowers to be told of right now, as devoted companions they are to me every day, anywhere on the planet, doorways to the divine magic of Nature herself.

I’ve witnessed that magic lives in the connection potential. Connecting with another person, an animal, the clouds, a flower. Connection takes risk. I risked making connections and those connections opened the doors to the fantastic in ways I could not have imagined.

All the events in this tale are true. Every last detail is written as it was, no fabrications. Indeed a true tale of seemingly impossible occurrences.
